Web design onboarding
I’m so excited that we will be working together to build your website. For me to begin working, it’s important that we are on the same page and that you have a basic understanding of the process.
It’s best if all communication is through email as this creates a paper trail and is easiest for you to get your ideas across at any time and for me to access at any time and refer back to. The site will begin with a rough draft of your plans laid out by me and will have a round of edits that you provide. This process typically happens three times for your site to be completed - your site is NOT live until completed. For me to begin your website a design deposit will be paid via Paypal and final payment is due just prior to me making your website live. Deposits vary on the intended plans of your site and go towards the final bill. All design work is billed at $55/hour.
A website can take anywhere from two days to multiple months to build out depending on its complexity. A one-page landing site takes roughly 4 hours (deposit $100), a 3-5 page site with no commerce options takes roughly 8 hours (deposit $200), and a multi-product commerce website takes roughly 10 hours (deposit $400). If your domain needs to be rehosted with Squarespace (purchased somewhere else) that process could take up to three hours - but typically takes less than one. If you have over 500 commerce products there is an additional $1000 deposit due at the time of booking. Branding and logo creation as well as rebranding can be added to your web design services and is recommended as all services are billed the same. Brand creation/ rebranding is typically a 1-4 hour process and leaves you with brand cards for future reference and a file of multiple formats of the final designs. Lastly, if updates are needed in the future the same billable hours apply when a list of changes is emailed.
Think of a website cost as having three parts. There is a domain (www. website.com), a host (the “housekeeper” of your website as well as “rent” on the web), and a designer (that’s me). ALL websites I design are through Squarespace due to its complex hosting (keeping your site from crashing), its ease of customization (saving me time and you money), its accepted browsers (chrome, firefox, tablet, mobile, desktop, etc) and more - if there’s innovation in the world of websites it’s happening at Squarespace. Squarespace will be both your domain and hosting provider. You will pay roughly $20/year for your domain and $150-$600/year on hosting (link to current prices) you will however save 20% on your first year’s hosting. You will pay these reoccurring charges by a credit card to Squarespace directly, you will pay my final design fee once after paying the deposit.
Getting started is simple. Please follow these links below to place your deposit and fill out the following contract. You will be contacted about project scheduling and to sketch a rough draft idea. If for any reason you cannot be added to the schedule within one month, your project demands a skill set I do not have, or you request to cancel the project within 12 hours of payment your deposit will be refunded immediately.
