Visiting Walden Pond in Fall

Walden Pond is a beautiful land to visit and learn a little on the way. Once on location, you can understand how someone lived alone here for so long just to learn to be alone in the woods. This location is full of history, wildlife (birds, fish, deer, etc) and education. The walk is leisurely and according to the ranger, this is a great swimming hole in summer!

How To Find It?
Pop 915 Walden St., Concord, MA 01742 into your address and get ready to be transported right back to the mid 1800’s.

Yes, there is a big lot and it is paid parking. Remember this money supports the preservation of land.
Are There Bathrooms?
Yes! There are real restrooms here!
Is There Shopping, Food or Novelty Museums?
Yes! There is a lot more here than I expected. There are rangers and volunteers that roam the parks and lead tours. There is the original house replica on the property by the lot as well as a mini-museum that includes a gift shop! I’m one that always opts to skip the museum and movie, but the museum kept my attention and was actually really interesting. The elderberry lollipops were a fun treat to that had by lips purple for about two days…
How Far Is The Walk/Hike To The Destination?
The parking lot, replica house and museum is on one side of the road where the downhill walkway and pond are on the other side. It’s about a half mile from the lot down to the pond. However, you can walk around the pond to the location of where Thoreau’s house was.
Is This Handicap Accessible?
The walkway is flat, but through dirt. The parking lot, replica house and museum is accessible also.
Is This A Family-Friendly Destination?
100%! This place is not complete without a lesson about Henry, homesteading and getting lost in nature.
