If you are anything like me you have an obsession with clothes, shoes, and outfits that make you feel amazing in them. It is such a good feeling to put on great quality clothes, that fit and didn’t cost an arm and a leg, and look perfect in them. I’m sure you have probably heard about Stitch Fix or seen their photos on social media that seem to consist of the perfect put together outfits, but just in case you haven’t we will start there first.

What Is It?

Stitch Fix is a scheduled and curated apparel and accessory delivery service. Yeah, what does that mean? It means they send you curated clothes and accessories that match your style and price range on a reoccurring basis or when you choose for them to be sent.

Tell Me More

To get started you sign up for an account on Stitch Fix and then you start filing out a style profile. This is going to consist of your MEASURED sizes, color and style preferences. It’s important to use your actual measurements as Stitch Fix sends a variety of brands and your sizes may vary. You will also set what budget/ cost you would like to be in for your box (which is five items). But once you are done that section they will have a dating app like flip through series where you are given an image of clothes and you give it a thumbs up or down to if you would wear it or not.

Then you choose what kind of subscription you want. Do you want this box come every week, month, etc or do you want this box to come once and then you manually choose when the next one comes? There is NO subscription fee to this service or shipping charge. You will pay a $20 styling fee when your box ships, but this turns into a CREDIT when you check out on your box (more on that later). However if you follow a LINK from this post you will NOT pay the styling fee but instead receive a $25 CREDIT towards your first box, making your first box RISK FREE!

So How Does This Work?

Once your box ships you will get a tracking code and your delivery will be to you shortly. When it does arrive it comes in cute little packaging right to your doorstep. When you open your box you will get five items that are tailored to your style, budget and tastes. You then try on all your items and return what you do not want. Within your box will be a style guide of how to style your items, a note from your stylist and a list of all of your items and how much it costs. You have THREE DAYS to try on your items and send back what you do not want before you are charged for your entire box. If you keep your whole box you will save 25% off the total cost. You are not charged for the items sent back or their shipping. When you pay the $20 styling fee it will be credited at this checkout.

Why Can’t I Just Go Shopping?

To me this box is for the busy working professional, someone who is not gifted in picking out clothes for themselves, someone who wants to try new clothes, or someone who really loves subscription services. If you insist on picking out all of your own clothes and cannot deal with buying things not on sale this box is not for you.

I love this box because I have branched into clothing styles I would NOT pick out in a store, I also do not have the time to drive out to a store, search around forever, try things on etc. Also, this is just fun! I love getting that box in the mail, trying everything on IN THE COMFORT OF MY OWN CLOSET and matching it up to my existing wardrobe. My first box I used a friends code and got $25 off my first box (you can get the same deal HERE) and I kept the entire thing which cost $125 after saving $25 and getting the 25% off for keeping the whole box. That is not bad for 5 high quality items (which was a dress, three shirts and earrings).

What Happens If Something Goes Wrong?

I will have to say, the Stitch Fix customer service has really shown its’ true colors. One of my boxes had a shirt that I loved, however it had a rip in the seam, I contacted them and within hours they gave me the option to try and exchange that item for another on the site or they could give me a % off if I kept it and repaired it myself. Also, my mother wanted in on the clothing box action and she ordered a box. However she did not keep tabs on the tracking number and then suddenly was charged for her whole box, that she thought she never received. Once she called (she likes to call because shes older and this is just another way they cater to their customers) they found the mailman had delivered the package to a random door at her farmhouse (not the front door) and she never knew that it had been there and missed the three day send back window. They refunded her whole box and extended her return window! Bottom line, if something goes wrong they have GREAT communication.

My Personal Thoughts and Tips On Stitch Fix

I think this is a great way to treat yourself to new apparel items and also get things that you WANT. I was very surprised at how well the stylists read my starter questionnaire and picked clothes that match me! However I do think that if you are a bargain shopper and have the time to go out and shop you could get more items for spending less. But trying on clothes in the comfort of your own home, spending zero time shopping and getting clothes picked for you in your size is so worth it to me.

Now for my little tip… I order a box now once a season and I SPECIFY what I want in the box and have EVERY TIME gotten what I wanted. For example I’ve said — “Hi! Thank you so much for taking the time to curate my box! This season I’m ONLY looking for sweaters. I would like to keep my whole box and will only be able to do so if it only has cold weather tops in it. I have jeans, skirts and dresses in EVERY color and fit imaginable, and wouldn’t find it feasible to keep them if you sent them. I’m also looking to keep this box at $150 final cost. Thank you! I look forward to seeing what you sent!” You know what I got in that box? FIVE warm sweaters and I kept every single one of them! I did this same thing with Summer dresses and I’m about to do the same with Spring tops. This to me is like getting a personal shopper and by far has made me fall in love with Stitch Fix!
