How To Make Money From Home
This blog may include affiliate links that may also give you a free gift, credit or monetary amount. They are worth using!
Whether you’re home from work due to a COVID-19 quarantine, medical reason, or layoff - not having an income for an extended period of time can be scary. Finding a short term supplement is a great way to stay financially afloat. But maybe you’re just looking to add some side income to your current job, either or this list is pretty helpful for making some cash both quickly and overtime!
Taking Surveys
Taking surveys can result in either Paypal or checks cut to you but also gift cards that are redeemable by points. They take a small amount of time but can result in decent payouts. The only downfall is some surveys that you are given to take you may not be qualified for, but they tell you that at the beginning, so you don’t waste a lot of time. Here are some of my favorite survey companies.
Survey Junkie - Pays in points for gift cards or Paypal deposit.
My Points - Pays in points redeemable for gift cards
Google Opinion Rewards - Pays in Google balance payouts. Super easy to do and easily redeemable for apps, movie rentals, and books on Google Play!
Rewards for Opinions - Pays in Southwest Rapid Reward points only. However, I’ve gotten two totally free flights from Maryland to California by doing this in my free time.
Take Polls, Watch Videos or Play Games and Review
These are a variety of small tasks that take a little bit of time and then reward you after. They vary but pay in points redeemable for gift cards, Paypal and check payouts. Here are some of my favorites.
User Testing - Pays by Paypal deposits when you review their websites. This does require you to download their software to record yourself using the sites. I use this often.
Mistplay - Pays in points for playing mobile games that you convert to gift cards or Paypal payouts.
Swagbucks - HUGE variety of online tasks to do and get paid in points to convert to gift cards.
Sell Things You Own But No Longer Use
These selling marketplaces act as an online yard sale. You list your item and once it sells you ship it. The marketplace will take a small percentage and then deposit the funds to you. I have personally used Poshmark and Mercari and made a decent amount of money off clothes, games, movies and more that were just sitting and collecting dust. Poshmark is just for clothes and accessories and does take a larger cut than Mercari. Both have shipping label options in the app, but Mercari lets you handle shipping on your own if you want also. Lastly, if you have old textbooks see if you can sell them back to your local college or Amazon!
Online Freelance
These jobs are similar to your in-office jobs where you bid for jobs, get clients and do tasks for them - but it’s all remotely. Each company does take a cut of your profit, but these are legitimate jobs and will deposit to your bank account.
-Fiverr is a job by job work source to find clients and work online. These jobs are totally remote and done at home.
-Data entry is a growing industry that includes a steady paycheck and training. Typically you do have to belong to a local company so Google if there are jobs in your area.
-Upwork is a job by job marketplace to find clients to work for. Most jobs are remote, work from home tasks.
-Are you a wiz at social media marketing? How about answering emails? Taking calls? Reach out to local small businesses about doing virtual assisting work for them. A lot of the time it’s dauntless and mindless work, but it’s helpful in the long run and gives them the time to focus on more important tasks.
-Liveops is a from home customer service job. This is typically over the phone and you are trained first.
-If you are good at a specific topic, offer your services to local school parents or college students as a tutor.
-QKids is a site where you can teach kids English online. Training is included.
Sell Photos
Selling stock photography is a good way to cash in on your photography skills. Take and upload your photos to Shutterstock and list them. Just be sure if you list on multiple sites you are allowed to do so.
Content Creation
This is more so for the long time income, but with the rise of influencers and entertainers online it’s worth mentioning. Each form of this requires a lot of research, but once you have a decent following you can typically monetize your account, accept free items and get paid for reviews but also reach out to other companies for free services or goods in exchange for publicity to your audience. Use TikTok or Instagram to build a following or start a Youtube channel or blog that can be monetized once you have enough traffic.
Create and Sell A Product
This is easily one of the most time consuming and lengthy tasks but it can create income for years to come. Once you have a product to sell you can list it on your own website and market it or you could list it on marketplaces like Etsy, eBay, Amazon Handmade or Jane. If you self publish a book, you can list it on Amazon. If you create designs you can have a drop shipper marketplace like TeePublic or Redbubble sell them for you and give you a cut. Lastly, if you create products for business owners you can list them on Creative Market.
Out and About Services
Yes, these would consist of leaving your home - however, it’s still not a typical job and would still be a home-based business. These pay in points redeemable by gift cards, Paypal payouts, checks, and cash deposits. (bonus $ in links)
