The Perfect Men’s Subscription Box

Karls Tacklebox Subscription

I LOVE subscription boxes. If you’ve read my other blogs you would know that having that monthly gift in the mail to myself is totally worthwhile. Having it be a low price is even better! However, I noticed Brian was getting a little jealous every time one of my girly boxes full of makeup, clothes, and decor came in. He obviously didn’t want the stuff in it but loved the surprise element to the box. So I thought I would get him a box, but like, where do I find a men’s subscription box?

He’s kind of a man’s man and getting a monthly men’s clothing box or grooming kit was way too frivolous for him, and fandom boxes were a little far fetched and not really in his alley either. Then I stumbled upon Karl’s Bait & Tackle Subscription. Brian loves fishing and is slowly learning more, and discovering the tips and tricks for the sport. He’s not a game fisherman so the country fisherman feel of this box sounded right so I checked out a bit more on the website.

The first thing I liked is Karl’s isn’t just a subscription, it’s an actual store, so if Brian really likes the brand, literature, or products he can most likely order more directly through the marketplace. The second thing I loved is you can REALLY customize what you get, but it still is a surprise. You can choose how big of a box you get, the area of water you’re fishing (Fresh, salt, etc), and what kind of fish you want to or typically fish for. You also can FLEXIBLY change between these boxes and PAUSE your subscription at any time. This seemed like a win for me so I picked out the smaller box with bass fishing items, took the plunge, and got a box. I used THIS COUPON and saved $10 so I only paid $10 for a pretty thoughtful gift. That is NOT bad.

I was really happy to hear that I could pay for just one month and pause and cancel my subscription at any time. I always want to try before I continue with subscription boxes so once the box shipped (literally the next day too!) I clicked three buttons and paused my subscription without ever having to talk to a human - phew!

So let’s get to what was in the box…

It’s important to note the outside of the box is printed so if this was a gift you would need to patrol your mailbox to hide it. However, the box is printed really fun and honestly adds to the box experience. The first thing I noticed was the measuring piece in the inside of the box that is part of a contest when using the supplies and you catch something big enough. This is pretty cool because I’m sure they build a community this way and it makes you want to actually use the items. The second thing I loved is that the box has a breakdown of products pricing wise and it’s an easy way to save the card and not the wrapper choice of something he wants to buy again. I should mention that the contents of the box cost $26 and I paid $10 for the box and shipping using THIS LINK. That’s honestly even a good deal for the full price. The items included are supposedly top brands according to Brian and not something you find in all the fishing shops. They also are all geared toward catching bass and have information printed on them of how to use them if you’re a newbie (like me) and want to read how to use something before you use it.

All in all, we are definitely unpausing the membership, and Brian is getting this monthly. You can also choose to get the box at different intervals too. If you want to get in on the fun click THIS LINK to get $10 off your first box! This is probably one of the most useful boxes to me too because no matter what you’re going to loose hooks, weights, lures, and more, and this just helps you stay stocked up!

A few things to note. If you are getting this as a gift for someone remember the packaging reveals what is inside. You will need to know what your giftee fishes or wants to fish to get the right box. There are customer service agents to help you get the right subscription if need be. This is a great gift for any fishing husband, boyfriend, or wife, but honestly, it’s not a bad idea for a kid/teen that enjoys fishing also. I’d much rather buy my kid something useful and teach a skill then pick them up another video game. Keep in mind this is a tackle subscription so you will need the main fishing supplies already to use this, however getting someone a rod, reel, line, and tackle box for their birthday, a holiday or achievement would be perfectly paired with this box. You could even upgrade to the larger box for special occasions too! And let’s be honest, this is a great self-gift idea for any 40-year-old fisherman that is currently reading this! Just remember to save $10 and use THIS LINK.
